The first
Algonquin Indiefest was held on Saturday, Janaury 25, 2003 in
New Hope, PA and on Sunday, January 26, in Lambertville,
NJ. Twenty-eight movies by twenty-one independent
filmmakers were shown.
Local filmmaker
Wayne Miller, screened of his short "Hello Girls" .Wayne
and his Director of Photography , Sam Wells , then
took questions from the audience for 45
minutes.
On
Saturday evening, Ted Tally, who wrote the Academy-Award
winning screenplay for "The Silence of the Lambs" accepted the
first HOOPLA! award from Algonquin Indiefest Co- Directors,
Donna Dudick and Ellen Downey. Bucks County Filmmaker Wayne
Miller and award-winning documentarian Louis Massiah were also
presented with awards.
Following the
Awards Ceremony, Mr. Tally spoke for about 45 minutes,
fielding questions from the audience.
Roia Rafieyan
and Karen Gross provided the musical entertainment for the
Filmmakers Reception.
On Sunday, at
Artsbridge in Lambertville, NJ, Louis Massiah presented his
documentary, "A is for Anarchist, B is for Brown". Mr. Massiah
and the audience then had a discussion about the
film.
Algonquin
Indiefest Co-Directors Donna Dudick and Ellen Downey
want to thank everyone who participated . The quality of the
films and the support of the community made this event a
success.
